Political Math is a site primed up to get the pulse on the latest views of the public. The polls on here are based on what is current and active in the media and affects us all. Political based polls are the norm of what you see here. Occassionally other polls are available on worthy items that are related to possible governmental influence or involvement.

Each poll has a start and end date. While a poll in 'open' you can vote on it. Besides the question and selection of answers to choose from; each poll collects demographic information - gender, age group, ethnicity, political affiliation, geographic location, and religion. These demographics are all optional.

While the demographics are not required, it is helpful for those viewing and analyzing poll results to be able to parse the data using demographic filtering. For your anonymity, note that the demographic selections do not ask any personal information - your name is not asked, where you work, any contact information, or any other information that can be linked to you - all personal information is private to you and we do not ask for any of it. The purpose of the demographics is simply to provide more pertinent analysis of the poll results. As such we encourage you to make selections in the demographic drop down lists.

While a poll is open, you can vote or decide to just view results. Either action puts you on a page in which the results are seen. The question is stated and the answers are broken out into a pie chart with percentages. The breakdown of demographics is shown also.

The real power is in the analysis where the results of a poll can be filtered by the demographics. For example, a poll with a question like "Will President Obama get voted in for a second term?" - besides showing the distribution of Yes and No - the count of Yes and No votes can be seen by (for example):

... and so on.
